About the project

Fantasy Football Radar Fantasy Football Radar is a real-time football news platform designed to help fantasy football players quickly discover the latest developments around Eredivisie clubs, players and teams. The platform brings together updates from club channels, club watchers and fantasy-focused sources, giving users a single place to scan the news that could affect their fantasy team. The system continuously monitors X/Twitter news streams and processes incoming posts to identify relevant updates. Instead of manually checking dozens of club accounts and fan channels, Fantasy Football Radar collects these signals and presents them in a structured, searchable interface. Users can filter the news by club, source and time period, making it easier to spot developments such as transfers, injuries, training news, line-up changes and other player-related updates. Behind the interface is a Python FastAPI backend combined with MongoDB. FastAPI provides a lightweight API layer for ingesting, processing and serving the continuously changing stream of football news, while MongoDB stores the incoming content and associated metadata. This architecture makes it possible to handle a large volume of short-lived, constantly changing social updates while keeping the data easily searchable. A key part of the project is the connection with blessuresenschorsingen.nl, where the processed data is delivered as content for the football injury and suspension platform. The Fantasy Football Radar therefore acts not only as a standalone news interface, but also as a data pipeline that can feed relevant football information into other web properties. The project combines social-media streaming, automated data processing, APIs and NoSQL storage to turn a high-volume stream of football information into useful, structured content. It demonstrates how modern Python services and MongoDB can be used alongside existing web platforms to build automated football-data workflows that operate continuously in the background.
